DECOY CERTIFICATION

K9 Pro Sports provides training and certification for decoys.
Our testing process ensures that decoys have sufficient knowledge and have developed the
abilities necessary to work dogs of all breeds and skill levels,
while ensuring safety to all persons present.

The decoy is responsible for the health and safety of all persons on the field and
spectator areas, including participants, officials and the public.
In the case of an unprotected bite, the decoy is the first responder for medical attention.
K9 Pro Sports Decoys are also the first line of security if a dog is distracted and goes for
any unprotected person on the field or spectator area.

LEVEL I DECOY REQUIREMENTS -

A K9PS Level I Decoy is able to safely catch any dog in a consistent manner that allows the judge to accurately assess the dogs training and abilities to stop an attacker. Level 1 should have basic skills that allow them to insure that all dogs competing in a K9PS trial will leave the field as good or better than when they entered. The Level I Decoy is athletic. He / she has a keen eye and is able to read dogs in an accurate manner. The Level I Decoy insures that all dogs are worked safely and that all personnel on the field are safe from any unexpected incidents. A K9PS Decoy is responsible for the safety and health of all participants and officials. In case of an unprotected bite they are the first responders for medical attention. The Level I Decoy will have knowledge and skill in the use of proper training equipment. Level I Decoys must exhibit proficiency catching three types of dogs rated 1-3; - A #1 dog is a soft dog that may not be ready for bite work and needs help before leaving the field. - A #2 is a secure trained dog with the ability to stop a man and work well under control of the handler - A #3 is a dog that is intensely focused on the decoy as the target and may not work as constantly or predictably as some trained dogs. Level I Decoys should catch two of each of these types of dogs with both upper and lower body catches. Level I Decoys must finish the K9 Pro Sports Dog Bite First Aid Course. Level I Decoys will possess a dog bite first aid kit and be able to present it at any time. Level I Decoys must possess the ability to break up a dog fight. Level I Decoys must exhibit proficiency in their ability to follow instructions given by the judge.

LEVEL II DECOY REQUIREMENTS -

In addition to meeting all of the above requirements for Level I, the Level II Decoy will demonstate the ability to properly read a dog in Civil Agitation and to remain safe working a dog with no protection equipment.

LEVEL III DECOY REQUIREMENTS -

Level III is an instructional level. In addition to meeting all of the above requirements for Level I & Level II, the Level III Decoy will have developed a level of proficiency in teaching, as well as dog reading.

Testing for Levels I, II or III Certification are $50 Dollars eash test.
Level I Decoys must bring their own suit at the time of testing.
